Abstract:
Without giving any relative importance to locally controlled (by the syndicate) illegal unorganized retail market (that disrupts government-controlled rationing system) in West Bengal and neo-colonially installed mall culture, this paper tries to show the lacunas of both the mercantile systems. In doing so, (a) the author surveyed structural patterns of both the systems; (b) used local terms to understand the local economy with a goal to eradicate fiat money-sign based economy. The author’s proposals are as follows: green economics of austerity, resource based self-sufficient economy that only encourages socially necessary labor.

Abstract:
The paper depicted special category of Sanskrit Grammar , viz. Sampradana Karaka (a theta-role on gift) by emphasizing on the concept of politics of gift in ancient India. The discursive formation of a grammatical category was connected with the non-discursive formation of exchange and gift. The author also described the concept of ownership (svatva) and conditionality as explained in the Nyaya Philosophy and Manusamhita. He exemplified the case with so-called ‘Hindu’ marriage system, where the groom is treated as an object of gift from the feminist perspective.
